Well President Obama was sworn in as President and you long time readers are probably wondering how I'm feeling. The answer is I'm OK.
No I'm not bitter. No I'm not sitting around wondering what if. Look I worked extremely hard to elect John McCain President for the past three years and it didn't come out the way I wanted it. If Senator McCain had lost during the Primary Season it would have been far more devastating for me. However, I cherish every moment that I worked on the campaign.
I'm a big fan of history and especially Presidents Lincoln and Washington so this moment of electing our first black President is not lost on me. President Obama also ran a marvelous campaign and as a marketer there are a ton of lessons to learn whether you are in politics or not. I also believe the era of Republicans versus Democrats or Liberals versus Conservatives is at an end. I'm not sure parties are dead (HT to Patrick Henry), but this bitterness is over. This moment is a proud moment for all Americans.
I am still concerned with President Obama's policies. I'm a Republican because I believe in a small Government, lower taxes, and personal freedoms. Some of Obama's policies worry me. However, that doesn't mean I'm cheering for him to fail. I don't want my friends and family having tough times paying their bills and earning a living. I want them to have as much of a chance at succeeding and this economic environment is the worst I've seen since the 70s so it will be hard(I was only a little kid back then). I want President Obama to do as much good as possible for the country, but just enough to miss getting re-elected.
Congratulations. It is a new era in America. Once I'm back from offsite meeetings I will watch his speech which my wife recorded for me.
