I saw this ad in the morning edition of the Newark Star Ledger and I thought it was a waste of time, but if the Ledger wanted to waste their own print space, well why not? I guess I was wrong because it seems that the Newspaper Association of America is wasting $50 million advertising to advertise print advertising in newspapers.
I know my wife and kids hate when I use this word, but that's pathetic. I can't take credit for finding the link because I first found it over at this great website called Emergence Marketing. I hope the NAA is tracking their visits to their website, because they'll soon discover what I've seen which is that newspaper advertising has no measureable impact on any results; especially on internet metrics. In fact, the only thing newspaper advertising is good for is to promote yourself to your competitors and Wall Street.
Oh, and one more thing. Boosting your best friends ad sales during the year seems like having your parents buy books from the Amazon link on your blog. Sure you made a sales, but is that really effective advertising?
