Well, I just came back from two days worth of meetings in DC and it went very well. We had a very large (even for my standards) media buy authorized and one of our successful search campaigns has tripled their daily spend. Finally, we had three other media buys go live and I'll post those creatives in a few days. That's quite a whirlwind tour.
On another note, the Where's Casey website had a third installment go live and I think this one might be my favorite because of its simplicity. The Where's Casey website aims to
poke fun at Bob Casey who is Rick Santorum's opponent for Pennsylvania's hotly contested US Senate seat. The recent version of the site smartly uses flash for sound, movement, and a beautifully designed page. Plus, the flying planes concept shows good timing for the soon to be seen daily occurence of ads flying along the Jersey shore (yes PA residents go down the shore). Also, the bottom includes links back to the other two versions, the original western and the detective site.
Obviously through a use of humor, the site tries to sway public opinion as well as generate donations and/or email sign-ups for the Santorum campaign.
At the same time, it has a viral component because it is just plain fun.
In a day where user-generated content and MySpace pages grab headlines for what passes as political online advertising, it is refreshing to see an agency that really understands how to generate actions on the internet - intelligently purchased media driving to targeted landing pages/mini-sites. Judging from the Google Trends chart shown above, it looks like something is working for the ad campaign.
